#27 Phillies Aaron Nola

Aaron Nola – Phillies/P (2015-present) Nola was selected 7th overall by the Phillies in the 2014 MLB Amateur Draft. He made his MLB debut just 406 days after signing with the Phils. Nola had an RBI single in his 1st big league win, an 11-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs on July 26th, 2015.  Nola was 24-22 going into the 2018 season. He was named the Phillies opening day starter by first-year Phillies Manager Gabe Kapler.

On This Date…

On July 8th, 1952, the Phillies hosted their 1st MLB All Star game. The NL defeated the AL 3-2 in 5 innings. It’s the only MLB All Star game in league history to end early due to rain.

 

On July 8th, 2011, Phillies pitcher Juan Perez threw an immaculate inning (3 KOs on 9 pitches) in the 10th inning of a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves. Perez was the first pitcher in MLB history to throw an immaculate inning in his 1st MLB win.
