On July 8^th, 1952, the Phillies hosted their 1^st MLB All Star game. The NL defeated the AL 3-2 in 5 innings. It’s the only MLB All Star game in league history to end early due to rain.

On July 8^th, 2011, Phillies pitcher Juan Perez threw an immaculate inning (3 KOs on 9 pitches) in the 10^th inning of a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves. Perez was the first pitcher in MLB history to throw an immaculate inning in his 1^st MLB win.
