Did you know… Bert Bell, an original owner of the Eagles, is the person who first introduced the concept of a college draft to fairly distribute incoming talent to the teams in the league.

Did you know… The Eagles have the only left-facing logo in the NFL. The Eagle feathers form the letter “E” for Eagles.

Did you know… In 1939, the Eagles played the Brooklyn Dodgers in the first-ever televised football game. The game, broadcasted by NBC, was played at Ebbetts Field in Brooklyn on October 22nd. The Dodgers won 23-14.

Did you know… The Eagles also participated in the first-ever televised championship game, defeating the Chicago Cardinals 7-0 on December 19th, 1948, in blizzard-like conditions.

Did you know… In 1943, finding it difficult to field a complete team due to the war in Europe, the Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers merged for the season and called themselves the Steagles.  It was the Eagles first winning season going 5-4-1.

Did you know… In the 2000 season opener, Sept. 3rd, the Eagles and Cowboys played in “the pickle-juice” game. The temp was 109 degrees Fahrenheit at kick off and the temperature rose throughout the game.  The Eagles training staff had players drinking juice from dill pickle jars to retain body moisture and fight dehydration.  It worked. A number of Cowboys were sidelined from the oppressive Texas heat but no Eagles were. The eagles won 44-14.

Did you know… Prior to coaching the Eagles, Earl “Greasy” Neale was an outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies from 1918-1922, debuting with Cincinnati on April 12th, 1916.  Neale played for the Phillies during the 1921 season.

Did you know… Ollie Matson was traded for 9 players in 1959.  In 1952 at the Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland, he medaled twice for Team USA in track, winning the bronze in the Men’s 400 meter, and a silver medal in the Men’s 4×400 meter relay.

Did you know… Eagles become 1st team in NFL history to be shutout twice at home in the same season by 30 points or more during the 1998 season.  

Did you know… The Eagles have selected five 1st round picks from USC. No other college has provided the Eagles with more than three 1st round selections. The 1st round picks from USC are Nelson Agholor 2015, Mike Patterson 2005, Charle Young 1973, Tim Rossovich 1968, and Leo Riggs 1946.

Did you know… Eagles kicker David Akers made a team-record 173 consecutive PATs from 2004-2009.

Did you know… Eagles Super Bowl LII MVP QB Nick Foles holds the team record for lowest INT pct in a single season with 0.63 in 2013. He threw just 2 INTs in 317 pass attempts.

From 2000-2007 the Johnson-led Eagles defense amassed 342 sacks, tied for 1st in NFL

In 2001, Johnson’s defense became just the 4th team in NFL history to hold opponents to 21 pts or less in every game of a complete 16-game season.

Jim Johnson sent Eagles to the Pro Bowl 26 times: Brian Dawkins (7), Troy Vincent (5), Jeremiah Trotter (4), Hugh Douglas (3), Lito Sheppard (2), Trent Cole, Michael Lewis, Asante Samuel, Corey Simon, Bobby Taylor (1).

On February 4th, 2018 the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LII, 41-33 to capture their first Super Bowl Championship and becoming the 20th NFL team to win it. (12 teams still have not won a Super Bowl, and 4 teams have zero appearances).
