Phillies relief pitcher Ron Reed (1980 WS team), was winning pitcher for Hank Aaron’s 715th HR game. He’s 1 of only 5 MLB pitchers with 100 wins, 100 Saves,and 50 Complete Games. He also played two seasons for the NBA Detroit Pistons!

Fourteen-year NFLer Billy White Shoes Johnson, from Boothwyn, PA. played 25 games for the Philadelphia Athletics of the American Professional Slo-Pitch Softball League during the summer of 1978. He batted .349 with 4 HRs.

On This Date…

Flyers Hall of Famer Bill Barber was born on this date, July 11th, in 1952 in Callander, Ontario.  Barber is the all-time goals scored leader for the Flyers and won two Stanley Cups with the team. Did you know Barber has his name on the Stanley Cup a third time? He was the Director of Player Personnel for the Tampa Bay Lightning when they won the Cup in 2004.  And did you know Barber’s nickname was Arnie because he was a lousy golfer?  Happy 66th Birthday, Arnie!

Back in the day, Ace Parker was a standout NFL player and was the league’s MVP in 1940. He also spent some time with the Philadelphia A’s. Parker is 1 of only 14 MLBers to hit a pinch hit HR in their 1st MLB at bat!
