Eagles Hall of Famer Steve Van Buren was born in LaCeiba Honduras. His father was an American working in Honduras as a fruit inspector. Tragically, Van Buren was orphaned at the age of ten. He went to live with grandparents in New Orleans. Van Buren was not the only NFL player born in Honduras. He wasn’t even the only Eagles player born there. Ebert Van Buren, Steve’s brother, was also born in Honduras and played with Steve on the Eagles in 1951, Steve’s last season in the NFL.
