On This Date…

On August 12th, 1994, the Major League Baseball season ground to a halt as a result of what became the league’s longest work stoppage. It was the 1st season in 90 years to not have a World Series.

On August 12th, 2016, Phillies pitcher Jake Thompson did something no Phillies pitcher had ever done. Thompson had 4 strikeouts in the 2nd inning vs Colorado Rockies. It was just Thompson’s 2nd MLB game, and 6th MLB inning pitched.  It was the 47th 4-strikeout inning in National League history.
