On May 6^th, 1976, Flyers winger Reggie Leach scored an NHL-record 5 goals against the Boston Bruins in a playoff game giving the Flyers a 6-3 win, closing out the Bruins 4 games to 1, and sending the Flyers to their 3^rd consecutive Stanley Cup Final.

On May 6^th, 2011, Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee struck out 16 batters vs. Atlanta Braves but lost 5-0.

On May 6^th, 1976, the Flyers defeated the Boston Bruins 6-3 in game 5, winning the conference final 4 games to 1.  Flyers Reg Leach had an NHL record 5 goals in the series clincher, and 9 goals during the 5-game series. The win sent the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals for the third consecutive season.
