On This Date…

On November 1st, 1981, Flyers defenseman Bob “the Count” Dailey suffered a career-ending ankle injury while colliding with Buffalo Sabres Tony McKegney on an icing touch-up in a Flyers 6-2 loss.

Did you know… Flyers defenseman Bob Dailey was nicknamed “Moose” while with the Vancouver Canucks. Upon his trade to Philly, Flyers defenseman Andre “Moose” Dupont approached Dailey and told him there’s only one Moose in this locker room.  Dailey had his suit over his shoulder and Dupont said he looked like “the Count” from Sesame Street. The nickname followed Dailey for the rest of his career.
