On October 6th, 1923, Boston Braves infielder Ernie Padgett turned an unassisted triple play against the Phillies in the 4th inning of the last game of the 1923 season. It was the 1st triple play ever in the National league, and 4th in modern day MLB history. It was the Philly-born Padgett’s 4th MLB game of his career.
On October 6th, 2010, in his first-ever postseason start, Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay threw a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds in the NLDS. It was just the 2nd postseason no-hitter in MLB history. Halladay became the 1st pitcher in 37 years to throw two no-hitters in same season (May 29th perfect game vs Marlins), and the first ever to throw a no-hitter AND a perfect game in the same season.

On October 5th, 1996 the Flyers played their first regular season home game at their new arena, the Core States Center (Wells Fargo Center). The Flyers lost to the Florida Panthers 3-1. Dainus Zubrus scored the Flyers 1st goal, and Dan Kordic had the Flyers first penalty, a 5-minute fighting major.

On October 4th, 2009, Phillies 2B Miguel Cairo hit a 4th inning homer in the last game of the season, a 7-6 win over the Florida Marlins giving the Phillies their current team-record of 224 home runs in a season. It was the only HR Miguel Cairo ever hit for the Phils.
